We invite you to join the CR Group of Chicago on Wednesday, January 29, 2020, to hear from Deputy Mayor Samir Mayekar about the top priorities of Mayor Lightfoot’s administration, Chicago neighborhood development plans, and ways in which for-profit and nonprofit organizations can support the administration’s priorities and neighborhood development.
Samir Mayekar was appointed by Mayor Lori E. Lightfoot as Deputy Mayor for Neighborhood and Economic Development in May 2019, after significant experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Samir previously served in the Obama administration in the White House and at a federal infrastructure finance agency. As co-founder and CEO of NanoGraf Corporation, Samir built a green energy company that continues to grow in Bronzeville. Fluent in Spanish, Samir has deep neighborhood roots in Chicago, having served as board chair for a community-engaged youth theater in Albany Park and a GRAMMY-winning music ensemble serving the Back of the Yards.
