Building Public Private Partnerships to Solve for Critical Social Issues

Homelessness is a prolific problem in our city, state, and across the country. More than 5,400 people were counted in Chicago’s 2018 point-in-time tally of the homeless. Yet the true total, according to the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, is estimated at 80,000 people – a quarter of them children. Learn how an academic medical center in downtown Chicago has developed public private partnerships to work for a solution to this critical social issue.

In addition to examining homelessness, our panel’s discussion will provide an opportunity for corporate and nonprofit leaders to consider how their organizations can similarly engage and mobilize resources to work toward solutions to social issues.

An emergency department social worker, a public-health analyst, a grass-roots organizer, and an operations director whose portfolio includes a clinic with homeless patients, will discuss how Northwestern Memorial Hospital has built relationships with community, civic, corporate and foundation partners to create a comprehensive, evidence-based approach to tackle the challenge.
